Adding Calories for Kids on Regular Diets

  • Add butter, oil, gravy, cheese or salad dressing to vegetables and meats.
  • Serve cream sauces with meats, pasta, potatoes and vegetables.
  • Add oil to tomato sauces and cooked pasta.
  • Serve breaded meats and fish.
  • Serve egg salad, and tuna salad with regular mayonaise mixed with a little whipped cream.
  • Add eggs to hamburger meat and casseroles. (Only pasteurized eggs are safe to eat raw.)
  • Add shredded coconut and/or wheat germ to desserts.
  • Make super milk: ½ cup whole milk + &frac; cup half & half.
  • Flavor milk with syrups and powders or Instant Breakfast.
  • Serve biscuits and gravy, pancakes, waffles or French toast (with butter, syrup and fruit) for breakfasts.
  • Peanut butter can be blended with milk and cream to make a sauce that can be added to vegetables (add salt and pepper to taste).
  • Offer peanut butter, peanuts in the shell, and other nuts and nut butters.
  • Add whipped cream, half and half, ricotta cheese or full fat yogurt to fruit and desserts.
